FREEFALL
BY VINAY PATEL
DIRECTED BY BETHANY PITTS
14TH OCTOBER – 1ST NOVEMBER 2014
PLEASANCE THEATRE, ISLINGTON
Midnight at the Dartford Crossing; Roland’s settled in for another thrilling night supervising the toll machines; Andrea’s pretty sure she’s come to kill herself. Neither of them wants to be there.
Both think the other’s crazy.
Still, it’s nice to have company.
Two strangers on a bridge in the dead of night, a game of dominoes, and a value ready meal – this new play by BBC’s Murdered By My Father writer Vinay Patel explores humanity, desperation and hope.
Fresh from the success of his debut play True Brits at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and subsequent run at the Bush Radar Festival, Free Fall was Vinay Patel’s first piece to be staged in London.
Free Fall was directed by the multi-award winning Bethany Pitts (Spine Underbelly/Soho – Fringe First, Herald Angel, Stage Award)
“Beautifully and tightly written… Molly Roberts as Andrea is compelling, raw and emotional. Maynard Eziashi as Roland was a perfect combination of empathetic, bluff and dry. Powerful and impressive.”
- Platform 505
“This play about desperation, and how it can drive people to change, is touching and beautifully written…
Both Andrea (Molly Roberts) and Roland (Maynard Eziashi) give wonderful performances.”
- PostScript Journal
“[Poleroid Theatre] hit the nail on the head with this little gem of a production…beautifully handled… absolute clarity and brilliance.”
